June 1, 2025: Oscar Isaac and Mia Goth set the stage for one of Netflix’s most anticipated releases at the Tudum event, unveiling the first teaser for Guillermo del Toro’s upcoming film Frankenstein. Alongside the teaser, the actors offered insight into the emotionally rich and visually grand adaptation of Mary Shelley’s classic 1818 novel.

Directed and written by Oscar-winner Guillermo del Toro, Frankenstein is a science fiction drama starring Isaac as the ambitious scientist Victor Frankenstein, Jacob Elordi as the iconic creature, and Goth as Victor’s fiancée, Elizabeth Lavenza. The star-studded cast also includes Felix Kammerer, Lars Mikkelsen, David Bradley, Charles Dance, and Christoph Waltz.

Isaac recalled his surprise when del Toro offered him the role: “I wasn’t expecting it. We were just talking, and suddenly he said, ‘I think you need to be my Victor Frankenstein.’ I still can’t believe it.” The actor praised the visionary director’s approach, calling the film “a banquet as an actor… beautiful, difficult, expressive.”
Del Toro has emphasized that this version isn’t a traditional horror film, but rather a deep, dramatic character exploration. Isaac described it as “a big, Mexican, dark, sumptuous, dramatic character piece,” while Goth noted its emotional core: “It’s incredibly epic and grand, but also deeply personal. It’s a story Guillermo has loved since he was a boy, and you can feel that heart in every scene.”
Though Jacob Elordi was absent from the event, his version of the creature made a haunting debut in the teaser. Isaac described Elordi’s portrayal as “heartbreaking… graceful, beautiful, sad, and rageful.” Goth added that the extensive makeup process was challenging but paid off with an unforgettable look.
Frankenstein is set to premiere on Netflix in November, delivering what promises to be a bold, emotional, and visually stunning reimagining of a timeless classic.
