In a disappointing turn for India, ‘Anuja’, a coming-of-age short film produced by Priyanka Chopra Jonas and Guneet Monga, lost the Best Live Action Short award to ‘I’m Not a Robot’.

🎬 India’s ‘Anuja’ Misses Out on Oscar Glory

Produced by Priyanka Chopra Jonas, Guneet Monga, and Mindy Kaling, ‘Anuja’ was a New Delhi-set short film that told the story of a gifted nine-year-old girl faced with a life-altering decision between education and factory work. Despite strong backing and a touching narrative, it lost to ‘I’m Not a Robot’, a Dutch sci-fi short directed by Victoria Warmerdam.

Other nominees in the Best Live Action Short Film category included ‘A Lien’, ‘The Last Ranger’, and ‘The Man Who Could Not Remain Silent’.

🎤 Emotional Tributes & Red Carpet Moments

The ceremony honored Hollywood icon Gene Hackman, who passed away four days before the event, with a heartfelt tribute from Morgan Freeman. Meanwhile, Halle Berry and Adrien Brody recreated their infamous 2003 Oscars kiss on the red carpet, sending social media into a frenzy.

Host Conan O’Brien also won hearts in India when he greeted viewers with a Hindi phrase: “Namaskar. Nashte ke saath Oscar kar rahe hai aap log”, meaning “Greetings! Hope you’re watching the Oscars with your breakfast.”
