“Our Son Is NOT A Topic For Your Entertainment..”: Sanjana Ganesan Slams Trolls Targeting Her Son’s Expression During IPL Game

April 28, 2025: Sanjana Ganesan, sports broadcaster and wife of cricketer Jasprit Bumrah, has spoken out against trolls who mocked her 1.5-year-old son, Angad, over his facial expression during an IPL match between Mumbai Indians (MI) and Lucknow Super Giants (LSG). The match saw Bumrah play a key role, taking four wickets to lead MI to a dominant 54-run victory over LSG.

Taking to Instagram, Ganesan condemned the online mockery, urging people to stop making assumptions about her son based on a brief moment captured on camera. She emphasized that her child was not a subject for online entertainment.

“Our son is NOT a topic for your entertainment,” Ganesan wrote. “Jasprit and I do everything in our power to keep Angad away from social media because the internet is a despicable, vile place to be. I completely understand the implications of bringing a child to a cricket stadium filled with cameras, but please understand that Angad and I were there to support Jasprit and nothing else.”

Ganesan also voiced her anger at social media users who linked her son’s expression to mental health issues, using terms like “depression” and “trauma.” She stressed how inappropriate and damaging such language is, especially when used in reference to a baby.

“Throwing around words like trauma and depression in reference to a baby says so much about who we’re becoming as a community and it’s honestly really sad. You know nothing about our son, nothing about our lives and I request you to keep your opinions online true to that,” she continued in her Instagram Stories.

The incident occurred after a thrilling IPL match on Sunday, in which Bumrah became the highest wicket-taker for MI in IPL history. His exceptional performance helped MI secure their fifth consecutive win in the tournament.

Sanjana and Jasprit, who got married in 2021, welcomed their son, Angad, in September 2023. The couple recently celebrated their fourth wedding anniversary in March.
