Param Sundari Faces Backlash! Christian Group Demands For Removal Of Flirty Church Scene

A Christian group has demanded the removal of a scene featuring Janhvi Kapoor and Sidharth Malhotra from the film’s trailer and final cut.

August 15, 2025: Janhvi Kapoor and Sidharth Malhotra feature in the upcoming movie Param Sundari, which has already caused two distinct controversies just days before its release on August 29.

The main problem comes from a scene taken in a church where the main players are flirting. The Christian group Watchdog Foundation wrote to the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC), the Mumbai Police, and the Information and Broadcasting Ministry to ask for the scene to be taken down right away.

Advocate Godfrey Pimenta of the foundation said that the scene “disrespects the spiritual sanctity of the religious place of worship” and “deeply offends the sensibilities of the Catholic community.” The group has also called for a FIR against the film’s producers, director, and performers for allegedly hurting religious feelings. They have also said that there will be public protests if the sequence is not taken out of the film and any promotional media.

Malayalam actor Pavithra Menon has also spoken out against the film, saying that Janhvi Kapoor’s portrayal of a Malayali character was not accurate. Menon didn’t like the heavily-accented Hindi in a monologue from the teaser because it was a traditional way of showing Malayalis in Hindi movies. She wanted to know why directors don’t choose performers from Kerala for these kinds of parts.

Tushar Jalota directed Param Sundari, which was made by Dinesh Vijan’s Maddock Films. It is a cross-cultural love story set against a war. Rajeev Khandelwal and Aakash Dahiya also play important roles in the movie.
