Param Sundari Review: Sidharth Malhotra, Janhvi Kapoor’s Film Is A Heartfelt, Satisfying Love Story That Simply Works
In a cinematic landscape dominated by action spectacles, this gentle rom-com delivers a welcome dose of familiar comfort. Sidharth Malhotra and Janhvi Kapoor charm their way through a digital love quest, proving that classic formulas still have heart.
August 29, 2025: The review for Param Sundari, a romantic comedy from Maddock Films directed by Tushar Jalota, says it’s a “welcome storm” in a world full of action and spy flicks. Because it leans on the easy, familiar beauty of romantic comedies, people have called the movie a “cinematic sigh.”
Param Sachdev (Sidharth Malhotra) is the main character. He is a venture entrepreneur who has to use a digital software called Soul Mates, which was made by Shekhar (Abhishek Banerjee), to find his soulmate and make his father happy. The algorithm directs him to a small village in Kerala, where he meets Sundari (Janhvi Kapoor) and falls in love with her. He strives to earn her love while coping with Venugopal, a competing suitor, and a culture he doesn’t know.
Pros:
The critic thinks the movie is like “comfort food cinema” because it doesn’t try to hide the fact that it employs a well-known Bollywood format.
Cultural Immersion:
The movie does a remarkable job of making it feel like a real “homage rather than appropriation” by using Kerala’s culture (backwaters, Mohiniattam, Kalaripayattu, Onam) in the tale. It is noted for not letting the Punjabi and Kerala settings compete with each other when it comes to culture.
Sidharth Malhotra’s delightful performance earns a lot of praise, and his chemistry with Janhvi Kapoor is said to be “crackl[ing],” especially in the quieter, more intimate scenes.
Supporting Cast:
Manjot Singh isn’t only there for comedic relief; he’s the main character’s conscience.
Weak points:
Not original: The notion is believed to be not original and is comparable to a mix of Chennai Express and 2 States.
The humor is labeled “hit-and-miss,” and the music is called “uneven.” A select tunes, like “Pardesiya” and “Bheegi Saree,” stay with you.
Predictability:
Some critics argue that the tale is rather apparent and that there aren’t many “surprises.”
Characters that aren’t used enough: The supporting cast makes the story more believable, but they don’t accomplish much more than “archetypal strokes.”
The review notes that Param Sundari does a wonderful job of portraying a simple, emotional love story, even though it has certain flaws. The movie doesn’t make its thesis too difficult, and it makes the viewer “smile, maybe even believe, for a short time, in the miracle of soulmates, algorithm or no algorithm.”
