July 16, 2025: Dan Rivera, a 54-year-old paranormal investigator and U.S. Army veteran, tragically died during a stop on the “Devils on the Run” tour, which featured the infamous Raggedy Ann doll known as Annabelle .
Rivera, the lead investigator for the New England Society for Psychic Research (NESPR), was found unresponsive in his hotel room in Gettysburg on Sunday night. Emergency responders administered CPR on a man matching his description, but he was later pronounced dead. The cause of death remains pending.

A mentor to Rivera, Lorraine Warren—the famed investigator behind The Conjuring—passed away in 2019. Rivera had dedicated over a decade to paranormal investigation and became known for his calm, educational approach. He recently went viral on TikTok for videos showcasing Annabelle and safeguarded the doll in a special glass case layered with holy water and crosses.
Rivera’s passing sent shockwaves throughout the paranormal community. NESPR, together with Ghostly Images of Gettysburg Tours, described him as “kind, passionate,” and “devoted to educating people” about supernatural phenomena. Fellow investigator Chris Gilloren praised his charisma and enduring dedication.
The sold‑out Gettysburg events at Soldiers National Orphanage drew over 1,260 attendees across three days. Amid rumors that the doll had gone missing earlier this year, Rivera helped dispel fears by posting a video confirming Annabelle remained secured in its museum case.
What’s next?
The Devils on the Run tour has been paused indefinitely. An official cause of death awaits coroner’s findings. Meanwhile, the paranormal community mourns a leader whose mission was to enlighten and educate rather than sensationalize.
