While Ranveer Singh’s Dhurandhar 2: The Revenge continues to demolish box office records with a staggering ₹145.55 crore two-day opening, the film’s off-screen narrative has taken a sharp, personal turn.

Veteran actor Paresh Rawal has found himself at the center of a social media firestorm after a heated exchange with RJ Sayema over a satirical review of the film. The spat has divided fans, with many accusing the Oh My God star of being “bitter” and “distant from his art.”

The controversy ignited when RJ Sayema shared a reel on X (formerly Twitter) featuring a sarcastic critique of the film, captioning it, “Hahahaha. Best review of Dhurandhar!” Rawal, known for his staunch defense of the franchise—having previously slammed critic Anupama Chopra for her take on the first installment—responded sharply. “Your job as a stupid reporter is secured. Nobody wants it,” he wrote.

However, the jab backfired when Sayema corrected him, noting she is a Radio Jockey, not a reporter, and added, “You are just an actor, hugely distant from your art in real life.”

The backlash from the digital community was swift. Netizens were quick to point out the factual error in Rawal’s “reporter” label, while others lamented the perceived decline of the veteran actor’s public persona. One viral comment noted that while social media has drawbacks, it reveals the “real faces” of celebrities regardless of their PR efforts. Critics of the actor’s tone argued that his transition from respected performer to “online troll” was a disappointing fall from grace.

Despite the digital warfare, the film itself remains an unstoppable juggernaut. Directed by Aditya Dhar, Dhurandhar 2 minted ₹102.55 crore on its opening Thursday alone.

With positive critical reviews praising Ranveer Singh’s “powerhouse performance,” the film is expected to cross the ₹300–400 crore mark by the end of its first weekend. Whether the off-screen bitterness will impact its long-term momentum remains to be seen, but for now, the box office numbers are speaking louder than the tweets.
