May 18, 2025 : Veteran actor Paresh Rawal, beloved for his portrayal of Baburao Ganpatrao Apte in the iconic Hera Pheri franchise, has confirmed that he will not be a part of the upcoming sequel Hera Pheri 3. The actor addressed ongoing speculation about his exit, clarifying that his decision was not due to creative disagreements.

Taking to his official X (formerly Twitter) account, Rawal wrote:
“I wish to put it on record that my decision to step away from Hera Pheri 3 was not due to creative differences. I REITERATE THAT THERE ARE NO CREATIVE DISAGREEMENT WITH THE FILM MAKER. I hold immense love, respect, and faith in Mr. Priyadarshan the film director.”

Earlier media reports had suggested that Rawal opted out of the film following creative clashes with the team, but his latest statement puts those rumours to rest.

Rawal’s character Baburao, or “Babu Bhaiya,” has become a cult favourite among fans. His comic timing, iconic dialogues, and signature style from the original 2000 film Hera Pheri and its 2006 sequel Phir Hera Pheri continue to thrive on social media, especially in the form of memes and nostalgic tributes.

The Hera Pheri franchise began under the direction of Priyadarshan, who helmed the first film, while the second installment was directed by the late Neeraj Vora. The third film is reportedly bringing Priyadarshan back to the director’s chair.

Rawal’s departure marks a significant shift for the franchise, and it remains to be seen how the makers plan to move forward without one of its most cherished characters.
