Paresh Rawal Returns to 'Hera Pheri 3', Denies Rift with Akshay and Suniel
Mumbai, June 30, 2025 –
Veteran actor Paresh Rawal has officially confirmed his return to the much-awaited film Hera Pheri 3, weeks after announcing his exit. Speaking on a podcast hosted by Himanshu Mehta, Rawal dispelled rumours of any major controversy and emphasized the responsibility the team feels toward fans of the iconic comedy franchise.
“There’s no controversy,” said Rawal. “When audiences love something this much, we owe it to them to work harder. Everyone should come together and do justice to the film.”
Rawal will once again reunite with Akshay Kumar and Suniel Shetty as the beloved character Baburao Ganpatrao Apte, a role that has become a cult favourite since the original Hera Pheri released in 2000.

Earlier this year, Rawal’s sudden departure from the project caused an uproar among fans. Reports even surfaced that Akshay Kumar, who also serves as a producer on the film, had taken legal action against Rawal. The actor reportedly returned his signing amount with 15% interest. However, Rawal now insists that the matter is behind them.
“We had to fine-tune ourselves,” he laughed, noting that the team—including director Priyadarshan—has been close for decades. “We are all creatives, and friends too. So now we’re back on track.”
The film brings back the original trio of Raju (Akshay Kumar), Shyam (Suniel Shetty), and Baburao (Paresh Rawal). Directed once again by Priyadarshan, who helmed the first film in 2000, Hera Pheri 3 aims to revive the magic that made the first two installments cult classics.
