Patrick Wilson Joins Amy Adams And Javier Bardem In ‘Cape Fear’ Series

February 26, 2025: Actor Patrick Wilson, best known for his roles in The Conjuring and Insidious franchises, has joined the cast of the highly anticipated Apple TV+ series Cape Fear. The series stars Amy Adams and Javier Bardem, with Wilson playing a significant role. The 10-episode series is based on John D. MacDonald’s novel The Executioners, which inspired the 1962 film Cape Fear directed by J. Lee Thompson, as well as the 1991 remake directed by Martin Scorsese.

Cape Fear is described as a tense, Hitchcockian thriller that explores America’s obsession with true crime in the 21st century. The story follows a married couple, Amanda (Amy Adams) and Steve Bowden (Javier Bardem), whose life is turned upside down when a notorious killer from their past, Max Cady (Bardem), is released from prison. As a storm brews, the Bowdens must confront their dark history and the danger Cady brings with him.

Patrick Wilson is no stranger to the thriller and horror genre, having gained fame through his roles in The Conjuring series and Insidious. His diverse acting career also includes roles in Aquaman, Watchmen, Little Children, and Angels in America. In addition to acting, Wilson directed Insidious: The Red Door in 2023.

Adams, a six-time Academy Award nominee, is known for her roles in Arrival, American Hustle, and Sharp Objects. Bardem, an Academy Award-winning actor, is celebrated for his powerful performances in films like No Country for Old Men and Vicky Cristina Barcelona.

The series is executive produced by Amy Adams, Javier Bardem, and Nick Antosca, who also serves as the writer and showrunner. Steven Spielberg and Martin Scorsese will also executive produce Cape Fear through their respective production companies, Amblin Television and Sikelia Productions. The series will be produced by UCP, with Antosca’s Eat the Cat banner involved as well.

Fans of intense thrillers and psychological dramas can look forward to Cape Fear, which promises to keep viewers on the edge of their seats with its gripping storyline and star-studded cast.
