Actor and Deputy Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, Pawan Kalyan, spoke about the massive success of his recent gangster film, ‘They Call Him OG’, during a public address in the Ambedkar Konaseema district on Wednesday.
He directly addressed his fans’ enthusiasm for the film, stating that he dedicated his full effort to OG to lift their spirits, acknowledging that his deep focus on politics had previously left them feeling disappointed.
Focus on Fans and Film
Pawan Kalyan, who plays the role of gangster Ojas Gambheera in the Sujeeth-directed film, stated that he deliberately concentrated on cinema for once to deliver a success for his fans:
“I hear you screaming ‘OG’ there. I could’ve made a film like OG after 2004. But my concentration wasn’t on films, it was on society. I gave OG my all because you have been feeling hurt. I know my focus on politics and welfare has hurt you.”
He further emphasized the difference between his two careers: “My fans haven’t been able to hold their head high lately. So, I decided to focus on cinema for once. Cinema is my livelihood, but politics is my responsibility. It’s a responsibility I chose to show my love for the nation.”
Response on Film Earnings and Politics
During an interaction with plantation owners, Kalyan addressed the public perception that his earnings from cinema should be used to resolve political issues:
- When asked about using movie funds for political solutions, he cheekily responded: “You should’ve asked the same question to the former Chief Minister (YS Jagan Mohan Reddy). Jokes aside, these funds are not something we pay out of our pockets.”

- They Call Him OG (September 2025): Scored a massive hit, grossing ₹293.65 crore worldwide.
- Hari Hara Veera Mallu (July 2025): Grossed ₹116.82 crore worldwide but was panned by critics.
