The new creative team is set for the first Bond film under Amazon’s control, with Steven Knight writing the script. Denis Villeneuve will direct the highly anticipated Bond 26, kicking off a bold, new era for the 007 franchise

August 1, 2025: The creative team for the next James Bond movie is coming together. The news that Steven Knight, the creator of Peaky Blinders, has been tapped to write the script is the most recent piece of news. This announcement comes after it was confirmed last month that Denis Villeneuve, who has been nominated for an Academy Award, will direct the project.

This is the first 007 movie to be made with Amazon’s new creative authority. The firm got the rights from long-time producers Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson. Steven Knight joins the team with a strong background that includes the movies Dirty Pretty Things and Eastern Promises, as well as the very popular TV show Peaky Blinders. Villeneuve, who is known for directing the Dune franchise, Blade Runner 2049, and Arrival, will be in charge of Bond 26.

People in the industry say that producers are seeking for younger British actors to play the new 007 agent. Some names that have come up to the top of the list are Tom Holland, Harris Dickinson, and Jacob Elordi.

Because Villeneuve is working on Dune: Part Three, the new Bond movie won’t come out until at least 2028. The 26th Bond movie is officially in the works now that both a writer and director have been chosen. More news about casting and production schedules is expected in the next year.
