April 13,2025: Pedro Pascal recently opened up about stepping into the iconic role of Reed Richards, also known as Mister Fantastic, in the upcoming Marvel movie The Fantastic Four: First Steps. The actor admitted that playing such a beloved and well-known character was a daunting experience. Pascal compared the role to his previous roles in large-scale franchises like Game of Thrones, Narcos, and The Last of Us, acknowledging that each of those projects had its own pressures and expectations.
“It was really intimidating,” Pascal said in a recent interview. “Each time I’ve felt like I couldn’t top how intimidating the last one was. They’re all scary because you really want to make people happy, especially if it’s something that’s widely known with particular expectations around it.”
Despite the pressure, Pascal emphasized the importance of staying true to himself while fulfilling the role’s potential. “You also want to be authentic to yourself so that it can be the best that it can be for anybody who wants to be entertained by a story and travel with us into this world,” he shared.
In the same interview, Joseph Quinn, who plays Johnny Storm in the movie, offered insight into his take on the character. Quinn explained that the traditional version of Johnny Storm had been portrayed as a womanizing, devil-may-care figure, but he believed this persona was no longer as relevant in today’s world. “This version of Johnny is less callous with other people’s feelings, and hopefully there’s a self-awareness about what’s driving that attention-seeking behavior,” he explained.
The ensemble cast of The Fantastic Four: First Steps also includes notable actors such as Vanessa Kirby, Ebon Moss-Bachrach, Julia Garner, John Malkovich, Natasha Lyonne, Paul Walter Hauser, and Ralph Ineson, making this movie one of the most anticipated Marvel films in recent memory.
As Pascal and Quinn prepare to bring fresh takes on their beloved Marvel characters, fans are eagerly awaiting how these actors will reshape the iconic team in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
