Piracy Strikes Salman Khan’s ‘Sikandar’ Within Hours Of Release, Impacting Box Office Potential, Trade Analyst Komal Nahta Reacts!

March 30, 2025: The excitement surrounding the release of Salman Khan’s highly anticipated action thriller Sikandar took a major hit on Sunday morning, as the film fell victim to piracy within hours of its release. The movie, directed by AR Murugadoss and also starring Rashmika Mandanna, was leaked across multiple illegal platforms, including Telegram groups, offering download links and streaming copies of the film.

Film trade analyst Komal Nahta was one of the first to discover the leak and shared his insights about the incident. He revealed that while he initially learned about the leak the night before, he refrained from posting about it immediately, wanting to be “100 percent sure” of the information before making any public statements. Nahta further explained that sometimes only scenes are leaked, and calling it a “full leak” prematurely could lead to unnecessary panic.

However, by Sunday morning, Nahta confirmed that Sikandar had indeed been fully leaked and shared the information with his followers. He also mentioned that the film’s authorized team, including producer Sajid Nadiadwala, worked swiftly to remove the movie from several piracy websites, but the damage had already been done, with the film spreading rapidly across illegal platforms.

Nahta highlighted the negative impact piracy can have on a film’s box office performance, particularly when it occurs around the time of release. “When piracy copies of a movie become available for free, especially on the release day, why would people go to the cinema?” Nahta questioned, emphasizing that piracy can seriously affect ticket sales.

Despite the piracy issues, Sikandar had generated significant anticipation leading up to its release. The film’s producer, Sajid Nadiadwala, has not yet confirmed the leak but did state that their piracy agencies are actively working to manage the issue.

The leak comes as a major setback for the film’s potential box office success, as piracy remains one of the most damaging problems for the Indian film industry, especially in the digital age.
