Pixar Greenlights ‘Incredibles 3,’ Brad Bird Returns as Director

Pixar Animation Studios has officially announced that the superhero family will be making a comeback with ‘Incredibles 3.’ This highly anticipated sequel is currently in development, with Brad Bird, the acclaimed writer-director of the first two films, set to return for this new installment.

The exciting news was revealed by Pixar Chief Pete Docter during Disney’s D23 Expo on Friday, where he outlined the studio’s forthcoming projects. Although specific details about the plot and release date of ‘Incredibles 3’ were not disclosed, the announcement marks a highly anticipated return to the beloved superhero franchise.

The original ‘The Incredibles,’ released in 2004, followed the adventures of Mr. Incredible and Elastigirl as they adjusted to a life where superheroes were forced into hiding. The film was a massive success, grossing over $630 million worldwide and earning critical acclaim for its innovative storytelling and animation.

Its sequel, ‘Incredibles 2,’ which hit theaters in 2018, continued the family’s saga and achieved even greater success, amassing $1.24 billion globally. The sequel’s success solidified the franchise’s popularity and set high expectations for the upcoming third installment.

Fans can look forward to the return of the original voice cast, including Craig T. Nelson as Mr. Incredible, Holly Hunter as Elastigirl, Sarah Vowell as Violet, and Samuel L. Jackson as Frozone. Their return is set to continue the dynamic and engaging storylines that fans have come to love.

The announcement comes on the heels of the success of ‘Inside Out 2,’ which recently became Pixar’s highest-grossing film of all time. With ‘Incredibles 3’ in the pipeline, Pixar is poised to deliver another captivating chapter in the lives of the superhero family, though no release date has been set yet.

Stay tuned for more updates as Pixar continues to develop this exciting new addition to their esteemed lineup.
