Veteran actor Piyush Mishra lauds Ranbir Kapoor for working without the “1% burden” of the Kapoor family legacy, calling him “unbothered and free” despite a recent fan backlash over his diet for Ramayana.

December 10, 2025: In a candid revelation, veteran actor and writer Piyush Mishra has offered high praise for Ranbir Kapoor’s professional conduct and personal simplicity, stating the star operates completely unburdened by his illustrious lineage.

Mishra, who has shared the screen with Kapoor in notable films like Rockstar (2011) and Tamasha (2015), spoke about his experience in a recent interview with Lallantop, where he commended the actor’s sincerity and easygoing nature.

“Not Even 1% of His Legacy Burdens Him”

Describing the star’s unaffected demeanour, Mishra used a striking phrase, saying, “Arre, don’t even ask, that guy is something else. Itna nanga besharam aadmi maine aaj tak nahi dekha (I have never seen someone so unbothered and free).”

Mishra emphasized that Ranbir’s grounding is remarkable, given his family history, which stretches back to the legendary Prithviraj Kapoor.

“He comes from such a long, long legacy—his father, his grandfather, his great-grandfather, all the way back to Prithviraj Kapoor. But none of that burdens him. Not even 1%,” Mishra added, suggesting that Ranbir’s lack of hang-ups is what makes him a favourite to work with.

Diet Controversy: Fans Question Ranbir’s Ramayana Pledge

Mishra’s praise for the actor’s besharam (shameless/unbothered) attitude comes at a time when Ranbir Kapoor is facing heat on social media over his diet.

The actor had previously stated that he had given up non-vegetarian food and alcohol, adopting a Sattvic diet as part of his physical and spiritual preparation to portray Lord Ram in Nitesh Tiwari’s epic, Ramayana.

However, a recent clip from the Netflix reality show Dining With The Kapoors, which celebrates the 100th birth anniversary of Raj Kapoor, sparked controversy. In the footage, Ranbir, along with other family members, is seen gathered around a table featuring dishes like Fish Curry Rice, Junglee Mutton, and Paya.

Though it is not explicitly clear what was on Ranbir’s plate, the presence of non-vegetarian dishes led to sharp criticism from netizens, who accused him of contradicting his earlier claims and using the Sattvic diet as a PR narrative for the film.

Despite the online scrutiny over his personal life, Mishra’s comments reinforce the general perception within the industry that Ranbir Kapoor remains one of Bollywood’s most dedicated and least temperamental stars.
