Pluto Film Boards Pedro Cabeleira’s “Entroncamento” Ahead Of Cannes ACID Premiere

May 1 2025: Pluto Film has joined Entroncamento (international title: Night Passengers) by Pedro Cabeleira as its international sales agent. The film is set to premiere in the prestigious ACID sidebar at the 2025 Cannes Film Festival.

Set in the Portuguese town of Entroncamento, the film explores a gritty world shaped by violence, loyalty, and the seduction of crime. Laura, the central character, arrives in town seeking a fresh start, only to be drawn back into the shadows of her past by the lure of fast money and the coded loyalties of street life. As she navigates the town’s dark undercurrents, Entroncamento becomes a story of identity, survival, and reinvention.

Director Pedro Cabeleira describes the film as “a portrait of a youth held hostage by the monotony of a small town… where those who live on the margins find themselves entangled in the long nights of empty streets, with nothing else to turn to.”

Daniela Cölle, managing director of Pluto Film, praised the film’s powerful female lead and genre-blending narrative: “This film delivers exactly what audiences are craving right now—a fearless female protagonist who doesn’t just survive in a man’s world, but rewrites its rules entirely.”

Blending elements of crime thriller and social drama, Entroncamento is co-written by Diogo Figueira and Cabeleira. The cast includes Ana Vilaça, Cleo Diára, Rafael Morais, Tiago Costa, Sérgio Coragem, André Simões, and Henrique Barbosa.

The film is produced by Abel Ribeiro Chaves (Optec Filmes, Portugal), Vasco Esteves (Portugal), and Edyta Janczak-Hiriart (Kometa Film, France).
