Prime Minister Narendra Modi has expressed his heartfelt concern for legendary playback singer Asha Bhosle, who is currently receiving treatment at Mumbai’s Breach Candy Hospital.
On Sunday morning, the Prime Minister took to social media to share a message of support for the 92-year-old icon, writing, “Deeply concerned to hear that Asha Bhosle Ji has been admitted to hospital. Praying for her good health and a speedy recovery.” The message underscores the deep respect the Prime Minister holds for the veteran artist, who had famously praised his discipline and kindness during his 75th birthday celebrations last year.
The news of the singer’s hospitalization surfaced following a sudden health scare on Saturday morning. While initial reports from hospital physician Dr. Pratit Samdhani suggested a cardiac arrest, the singer’s granddaughter, Zanai Bhosle, later provided a clarifying update on social media. Zanai stated that the veteran artist was admitted due to “extreme exhaustion” and a “chest infection,” assuring fans that she is undergoing necessary treatment. The family has requested privacy as they remain hopeful for a positive recovery, with Zanai promising further updates as her grandmother’s condition stabilizes.
Asha Bhosle’s career, spanning over seven decades, has made her an inseparable part of India’s cultural fabric. Known for her incredible versatility, she has delivered timeless hits like “Dum Maro Dum,” “Piya Tu Ab To Aaja,” and the soulful “In Aankhon Ki Masti.” As news of her critical condition spread, the film fraternity—including actors like Anupam Kher and Sanjay Kapoor—along with millions of fans worldwide, have flooded social media with prayers. The Dadasaheb Phalke Award winner remains under close medical supervision as the nation waits for the “Nightingale” to return to good health.
