Prabhas on Working with Legends in ‘Kalki 2898 AD’

At the pre-release event for ‘Kalki 2898 AD’ in Mumbai, Prabhas shared his experiences working alongside legendary actors Kamal Haasan, Amitabh Bachchan, and Deepika Padukone. The event was a star-studded affair, featuring Kamal Haasan, Amitabh Bachchan, Prabhas, and the soon-to-be mother, Deepika Padukone.

Prabhas expressed immense gratitude for the opportunity to work with such esteemed actors. When host Rana Daggubati asked him about the experience, Prabhas humbly thanked the producers for making it possible. “First of all, I would like to thank Dutt Garu and Nagi Garu for giving me the opportunity to work with the greatest legends. It’s bigger than a dream, and I don’t know what to say. The first time I met Amitabh sir and touched his feet, he said, ‘Don’t do it, and if you do it, then I will also do it.'”

Prabhas went on to praise Amitabh Bachchan, recalling how his uncles emulated the actor’s iconic hairstyle. “We grew up watching you; my uncles had your hairstyle. He’s the first actor in the country who reached every part of the country, like South, North. We all know in Telugu and Tamil we saw that Amitabh Bachchan’s hairstyle and he’s tall. Any tall people, they call Amitabh Bachchan.”

Sharing a childhood memory about Kamal Haasan, Prabhas remembered asking his mother for a costume like the one Haasan wore in the film “Sagar.” He noted how Haasan’s style influenced many, including himself.

At the event, Deepika Padukone looked stunning in a black dress, while Prabhas and Amitabh Bachchan also donned black outfits. Kamal Haasan and Rana Daggubati were also present, adding to the glamorous atmosphere.

Directed by Nag Ashwin, ‘Kalki 2898 AD’ is a post-apocalyptic film inspired by Hindu scriptures, set in the year 2898 AD. The trailer suggests a futuristic reimagining of the Mahabharat with a dystopian twist. Kamal Haasan’s inclusion in the film has generated significant buzz, making ‘Kalki 2898 AD’ one of the most talked-about productions of 2024.

Last month, a teaser of Amitabh Bachchan’s look from the sci-fi dystopian film was released during an IPL match between Kolkata Knight Riders and Royal Challengers Bangalore. The 21-second teaser featured Big B in warm earthy tones, seated in a cave, praying to a Shiva linga, covered in bandages. A young child in the clip asks, “Are you God? Can you not die?” to which Amitabh’s character replies, “Since the Dwapar Yug, I have waited for the Dasavatar. I am Ashwatthama, the son of Dronacharya.”

‘Kalki 2898 AD’ is slated to release in theaters on June 27, promising to deliver a visually stunning and narratively rich cinematic experience.
