May 25, 2025: Actor and Punjab Kings co-owner Preity Zinta has donated ₹1 crore to the Army Wives Welfare Association (AWWA) under the Indian Army’s South Western Command, extending heartfelt support to the families of India’s brave soldiers.
Her generous contribution comes shortly after the launch of Operation Sindoor—India’s military response to the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack that claimed the lives of 26 civilians. The operation, launched on May 7, saw Indian forces targeting terror infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir, eliminating over 100 terrorists.
Zinta shared a moving video on Instagram from her visit to the South Western Command auditorium, where she addressed army families and praised their resilience and courage.
“Our Indian Army is not only courageous but heroic. Even more heroic are their families. This is just a small token of appreciation from our side,” she said in her address.
In a deeply emotional caption accompanying the post, Zinta reflected on the stories of bravery and sacrifice that touched her heart during the event. She recounted seeing posters of fallen and decorated soldiers while on her way to the venue, and meeting the women and children they left behind.
“These men gave up their today for our tomorrow. I met their families—women who miss them every moment, and children whose smiles carry so much strength. There were no complaints, no tears—just pride, strength, and sacrifice,” she wrote.
She described the experience as humbling, and said she felt honored to share the stage with the “Veer Naris” and their families, calling it an unforgettable moment.
Preity Zinta’s heartfelt gesture and moving tribute have been widely appreciated, adding a powerful voice of solidarity with the armed forces and their families during a period of national grief and resilience.
