In an emotional Instagram post, Zinta praised her team’s valiant efforts and captain Shreyas Iyer’s leadership, promising fans that the team will return stronger next year to “finish the job.”
Sharing a heartfelt message alongside a picture of the PBKS squad, she wrote,
“It didn’t end the way we wanted it to but…the journey was spectacular! It was exciting, entertaining & inspiring. I loved the fight & the grit our young team, our shers, showed throughout the tournament. I loved the way our captain, our Sarpanch, led from the front & how Indian uncapped players dominated this IPL!”
Zinta went on to describe the challenging path the team faced this season — from player injuries and national duty absences to shifting home games and even evacuating a stadium. Despite all odds, PBKS managed to top the points table and reach their first IPL final in over a decade.
“This year was unique. We smashed records… We adapted & topped the points table after a decade & fought till the end in an exciting final,” she added. “I am so proud of each and every player of Punjab Kings for showing so much character.”
She also thanked the fans, affectionately calling them the “Sher Squad,” for their unwavering support through thick and thin.
“Whatever we are & how far we have reached is all because of you. I promise we will come back to finish the job cuz as of now the job is still half done.”
Punjab Kings lost the IPL 2025 final to Royal Challengers Bengaluru by just 6 runs in a nail-biting clash at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. The match was historic, as both PBKS and RCB were aiming for their maiden IPL title.
Preity Zinta’s passionate note has resonated with fans across the country, who applauded the team’s grit and resilience throughout the season.
