Prithvi Shaw Penalised ₹100 by Mumbai Court for Delaying Reply in Molestation Plea
A Mumbai sessions court imposed a token cost of ₹100 on cricketer Prithvi Shaw for repeatedly failing to file a reply in a molestation case filed by social media influencer Sapna Gill. The court has given him a final deadline, with the next hearing scheduled for December 16.
September 10, 2025: The Mumbai sessions court fined Indian cricketer Prithvi Shaw ₹100 for not responding to Sapna Gill’s appeal on time. This is a fresh turn in the legal battle that has been going on between the two. The court granted him one last chance to accomplish it and pushed the matter back to December 16.
In April 2024, Gill filed a criminal revision plea since a lower court wouldn’t let the police register a FIR against Shaw. The magistrate’s court had just told the police to look into it first. Gill’s lawyer, Advocate Ali Kaashif Khan, alleged that Shaw is deliberately making the legal process go longer by not responding to the court’s multiple requests.
The Case in Court
The brawl that led to the case took place on February 15, 2023, outside a pub in Andheri, Mumbai. When someone asked for a selfie, the brawl broke out.
Police Report
Gill and her pals were arrested for allegedly beating Shaw and his friend and trying to collect ₹50,000 from them. Gill was arrested and subsequently released on bail.
Gill’s narrative
Gill has changed her narrative and says that Shaw and his companion attacked her and her friend. She has filed a complaint against Shaw for molestation and is requesting for a FIR under IPC sections 354 (molestation) and 509 (insulting a woman’s modesty).
The Dindoshi sessions court has asked Shaw multiple times to file his official response. The judge punished him on Tuesday and added, “You still have one more chance, but it will cost you Rs 100.” The court is still waiting for Shaw’s answer, so the matter is still going on.
