Priyanka Chopra Lauds PM Modi for WAVES Summit 2025, Calls It a ‘Bold Step for India’

May 1, 2025: Global star Priyanka Chopra recently extended heartfelt appreciation to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his role in championing India’s creative industries. Her message came as the World Audiovisual and Entertainment Summit (WAVES) 2025 kicked off on Thursday in Mumbai, a landmark event that promises to redefine India’s position in the global entertainment arena.

In a video message shared on her official Instagram account, Chopra described the summit as a “historic” and “bold step” for India. She praised the event for marking a significant moment in India’s cultural and entertainment history, emphasizing that it was not just a typical conference, but a bold move placing India at the center of global creativity and storytelling.

“For the first time ever, India is hosting the World Audiovisual and Entertainment Summit, WAVES, in Mumbai. This isn’t just another conference, WAVES is India’s bold step onto the world stage,” Chopra said in the video.

The summit, which runs from May 1 to 4, is being held at Mumbai’s Jio World Centre and other prestigious locations, including the Nita Mukesh Ambani Cultural Centre (NMACC). It brings together over 10,000 attendees, including 1,000 creators, 350 startups, and representatives from over 90 countries, all gathered to celebrate the intersection of storytelling, innovation, and the creator economy.

Chopra also acknowledged the Indian government’s significant role in bringing the summit to life, particularly highlighting Prime Minister Modi’s vision and leadership. “Thanks to the vision of our esteemed Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi Ji, and the incredible support of the various ministries, media, entertainment, and the creator economy are finally being recognized as vital industries,” Chopra expressed.

The actress also underscored the unity of diverse Indian industries, ranging from cinema to gaming and technology, all coming together under the WAVES umbrella. “India’s always had the talent and the culture. Now we have the platform,” she said, noting that WAVES would serve as a bridge between India’s timeless storytelling traditions and the future of global entertainment.

As she continues filming her highly anticipated project with acclaimed director SS Rajamouli, Chopra expressed optimism that WAVES would prove to be a landmark turning point for India’s creator economy on the global stage.

In addition to Chopra, Bollywood icons such as Shah Rukh Khan, Akshay Kumar, Aamir Khan, Rajinikanth, and Deepika Padukone were also spotted at the summit, showing their support for the initiative. The grand opening at the NMACC Grand Theatre was marked by a performance from a 50-piece orchestra conducted by Oscar-winning composer MM Keeravaani, setting a majestic tone for the days to come.

WAVES 2025 is being hailed as a major step forward for India’s cultural and creative sectors, and Chopra’s words echoed the excitement surrounding this historic event that will reshape the global entertainment landscape.
