Produced at a Humble ₹48 Cr. Raid 2 Advance Booking Crosses This Much! Set to Outperform Kesari 2 and Jaat on Opening Day

Ajay Devgn’s Raid 2 sells 1.5 lakh tickets ahead of May 1 release, with expectations of a ₹11–13 crore Day 1 collection amid holiday boost and limited competition.

Chennai, May-2
Ajay Devgn’s much-anticipated crime thriller Raid 2 is poised for a strong box office opening, having already crossed ₹7 crore in advance bookings, including block seats. According to data from Sacnilk, the film has sold over 1.5 lakh tickets nationwide, collecting ₹4.3 crore from general ticket sales and an additional ₹2.9 crore through block bookings.

With over 10,000 shows scheduled across India, the film is generating significant buzz, especially in urban centres. In Mumbai, the film has earned ₹1.2 crore across 842 shows, while Delhi-NCR has contributed just over ₹1 crore across more than 1,100 shows.

Public Holiday Boost:

Releasing on Labour Day (May 1) — a nationwide public holiday — Raid 2 is expected to see strong footfall, giving it a solid start. Trade analysts predict a Day 1 collection between ₹11–13 crore, which would surpass recent mid-range releases like:

  • Kesari 2 – ₹7.75 crore
  • Jaat – ₹9.5 crore

Although it may not match the explosive openers like Chhaava (₹31 crore) or Sikandar (₹26 crore), Raid 2 is expected to outperform other contemporary releases.

Box Office Face-Off:

The film faces a same-day release clash with Mouni Roy and Sanjay Dutt’s The Bhootnii, which is projected to open with ₹3–4 crore. Despite the overlap, trade experts believe Raid 2 will maintain dominance in the Hindi market.

In South India, however, Raid 2 will go up against Nani’s Hit: The Third Case and Suriya’s Retro. Yet, producer Bhushan Kumar remains confident, saying in an interview with News18:

“I don’t think these films will pose any competition for us.”

A Sequel with Legacy:

Directed by Raj Kumar Gupta, Raid 2 follows up the successful 2018 hit Raid, which earned over ₹153 crore worldwide and opened with ₹10.04 crore. Devgn reprises his role as IRS officer Amay Patnaik, joined this time by Riteish Deshmukh as the antagonist and Vaani Kapoor in the female lead.
