Pushpa 2 Box Office: Can Allu Arjun’s Record-Breaker Surpass Baahubali 2’s Profit Legacy?
January 26, 2025: Allu Arjun’s Pushpa 2 has cemented its place as one of Indian cinema’s biggest box office spectacles, yet even with its roaring success, it seems unlikely to match the profitability of Prabhas’s Baahubali 2. As Pushpa 2 nears the end of its box office journey, the numbers tell a fascinating tale of achievement and limitation.

In its 50-day run, Pushpa 2 has amassed ₹1,262.13 crore domestically and ₹1,781.31 crore globally. Its Hindi version alone has contributed ₹833.98 crore, marking it as a blockbuster in the Hindi-speaking belt.

With a production budget of ₹500 crore, the film has generated an extraordinary profit of ₹762.13 crore, translating to a 152.43% return on investment (ROI). For the Hindi version, mounted on a budget of ₹200 crore, the ROI is an astounding 316.99%, earning ₹633.98 crore in profits. These numbers make Pushpa 2 the second most profitable Telugu film of 2024, behind HanuMan, and the second most profitable Hindi film of the year, with Stree 2 taking the top spot.

Despite these impressive figures, Pushpa 2 still bows down to SS Rajamouli’s Baahubali 2. The latter was produced on a budget of ₹250 crore and generated ₹1,021 crore in profits, achieving a staggering 308.4% ROI.
To surpass Baahubali 2’s profitability, Pushpa 2 would need to earn ₹2,042 crore globally. However, with its current total standing at ₹1,781.31 crore, the film still needs an additional ₹779 crore—a nearly insurmountable target at this stage.
While Pushpa 2 may not dethrone Baahubali 2 in profitability, it has undeniably redefined Allu Arjun’s standing in Indian cinema. The film’s unprecedented success across multiple languages, particularly in Hindi, showcases the growing pan-Indian appeal of Telugu cinema.
Though the financial gap remains, Pushpa 2 has carved its place in Indian cinematic history with record-breaking achievements and has proven to be a worthy contender in the race for box office glory.
