Pushpa 2 Breaks Baahubali 2’s Record, Inches Closer to Dangal at the Box Office

Allu Arjun’s blockbuster crosses ₹1,800 crore globally, setting new benchmarks while trailing Dangal by ₹200 crore.

Allu Arjun’s latest blockbuster, Pushpa 2: The Rule, continues to dominate the box office, marking an unprecedented 50-day run. The film has shattered numerous records, including surpassing the lifetime global collections of Baahubali 2: The Conclusion, to become the second-highest-grossing Indian film of all time.

As per Sacnilk’s estimates, Pushpa 2 recorded a Hindi occupancy of 8.05% on Thursday, collecting ₹50 lakh. Its domestic net collection has reached a staggering ₹1,230.55 crore, with worldwide earnings surpassing ₹1,800 crore. However, the film still trails behind Aamir Khan’s Dangal, which grossed ₹2,059.04 crore globally, primarily due to its massive success in China.

Celebrating the film’s milestone, production house Mythri Movie Makers shared a post on social media: “50 iconic days of Pushpa 2: The Rule in theatres. Indian cinema’s industry hit rewrote many records and set new benchmarks at the box office. Book your tickets today to enjoy the reloaded version.”

Released on December 5, Pushpa 2 has managed to fend off competition from other major releases, such as Baby John, Game Changer, Azaad, and Emergency. Despite the stiff competition, the film is still playing in approximately 1,000 screens nationwide.

In a recent interview with Firstpost, filmmaker Madhur Bhandarkar praised the film’s unprecedented success. “Pushpa 2 is a dubbed film, yet it garnered ₹850 crore in the Hindi market alone. It’s phenomenal. Breaking this record may take a decade, if not longer,” he said.

Adding to its success, Pushpa 2 is set to make its OTT debut soon, with its streaming rights sold for a substantial amount. The film, inspired by true events and directed by Sukumar, has further solidified Allu Arjun’s place as a pan-Indian superstar.
