January 9, 2025: The upcoming film Hisaab Barabar certainly seems intriguing, especially with its timely exploration of corruption and systemic injustice, themes that resonate with a broad audience. With R. Madhavan leading the charge, it’s no surprise that the movie has already garnered positive attention, having premiered at the prestigious 55th International Film Festival of India (IFFI).
The plot sounds gripping: an ordinary man, a railway ticket checker, discovering a minor discrepancy in his bank account that spirals into a larger financial scam. This kind of story, where a regular person stands up to the system, often brings out the underdog spirit and can be very compelling for viewers. Madhavan’s portrayal of Radhe Mohan Sharma, a character who uncovers corruption in a world that often feels stacked against the average citizen, could be a powerful one. The fact that he’s playing a character who’s not a stereotypical hero, but someone from humble beginnings, only adds to the potential appeal.
The inclusion of Neil Nitin Mukesh as the corrupt banker Micky Mehta is another strong element. Mukesh’s villainous roles in the past have been well-received, and here, it sounds like he’s going to be the antagonist driving the scam, providing a sharp contrast to Madhavan’s morally upright protagonist. Kirti Kulhari, known for her nuanced performances, is another great addition, and I’m sure she’ll bring depth to the storyline.
