New report reveals Zegler’s controversial remark and social media activism led to tensions with co-star Gal Gadot and forced Disney to step in.
March 28, 2025: The fallout between Snow White stars Rachel Zegler and Gal Gadot wasn’t just tabloid fodder—it may have played a critical role in derailing Disney’s much-hyped fairytale remake. According to a bombshell Variety report, a “dismissive” comment made by Zegler about Gadot, paired with politically charged social media posts, created serious tensions between the leading ladies.

Sources say the two actresses initially had a smooth relationship during the film’s production. However, things took a turn after the 2025 Oscars, where the pair appeared on stage to present an award. Following the event, Zegler responded to an Instagram comment, referring to Gadot as a “professional pageant queen”—a remark insiders described as “dismissive” and “unnecessary,” especially given Gadot’s international stature as a former Miss Israel and Hollywood icon.
The situation worsened as Zegler made public pro-Palestine and anti-Trump posts. One such post read, “Free Palestine,” and another stated, “May Trump supporters never know peace.” With Gadot being Israeli, Zegler’s stance sparked backlash from fans and reportedly led to death threats against Gadot, prompting Disney to beef up her security during promotional events.

“She didn’t understand the repercussions of her actions… what it meant for the film, for Gal, for anyone involved,” a Disney insider revealed.
The controversy reportedly reached its boiling point after the Trump post, which alienated a significant portion of the potential American audience. That’s when Disney executives stepped in. Producer Marc Platt flew cross-country twice to meet Zegler personally. After multiple conversations, she reluctantly agreed to work with a “social media guru,” hired by Disney, to filter her online activity in the lead-up to the film’s release on March 21.
The damage, however, may already have been done. Snow White, directed by Marc Webb, faced multiple delays, costly reshoots, and a lukewarm box office debut. Many insiders believe that the social media controversies and fractured co-star dynamic added fuel to an already struggling project.
