April 2, 2025: Radhika Merchant turned heads with her stunning appearance at Vivienne Westwood’s first-ever fashion show in India, held at the iconic Gateway of India in Mumbai. The prestigious event saw Vivienne Westwood unveiling her capsule collection, and Radhika’s outfit stole the spotlight.

Styled by Rhea Kapoor, Radhika exuded elegance in a beautiful Vivienne Westwood archival corset paired with a scarf from the brand’s iconic 1990 Autumn/Winter Portrait Collection. She complemented the look with a custom chanderi sari and exquisite jewellery from Shachee Fine Jewellery.

The corset Radhika wore was a standout piece from Westwood’s 1990-91 ‘Portrait’ collection, one of the brand’s most significant, featuring a reproduction of the painting “Daphnis and Chloe” by the French artist François Boucher. The collection itself marked a turning point in Vivienne Westwood’s fashion journey, with its sensuous, escapist designs influenced by eighteenth-century oil paintings and decorative art.

In true Westwood style, the event celebrated India’s rich textile heritage, with a capsule collection crafted using hand-woven Chander silks and Khadi cotton, wool, and silks. This nod to India’s artisanal legacy highlighted the fabric’s historical significance, especially as a symbol of freedom revived by Mahatma Gandhi.

Radhika kept her glam minimal, opting for soft makeup and styling her hair in a neat bun. She accessorized with a statement pearl choker and earrings, elevating her ensemble further. As she posed elegantly with the pallu of her sari in hand, she captured the attention of both the media and fellow guests.

Alongside Radhika, several other celebrities, including Kareena Kapoor Khan, Mira Kapoor, and Janhvi Kapoor, were in attendance, but it was Radhika who truly captivated the audience with her impeccable style.
