Raid 2 Box Office Day 1: Ajay Devgn’s Film Opens with ₹18 Crore, Boosts Bollywood’s 2025 Prospects
May 2, 2025 | Ajay Devgn’s Raid 2 has stormed into theatres with a ₹18 crore nett collection on its opening day, giving Bollywood a much-needed boost amid an otherwise lukewarm 2025 box office season.
Directed by Raj Kumar Gupta, who also helmed the 2018 hit Raid, the sequel benefitted from the Maharashtra Day / Labour Day holiday, which helped push footfalls across urban centres and single screens alike.

Though critics offered mixed reviews, the audience response has been largely positive, fueling optimism for a strong first weekend. The film is also competing with Kesari: Chapter 2, which has had a decent run, but Raid 2 clearly emerged as the audience’s first choice on opening day.

Trade analysts now estimate that Raid 2 could rake in ₹65–70 crore nett by the end of its first weekend, potentially becoming the first Bollywood film of 2025 to cross the coveted ₹100 crore mark within the first week.
Meanwhile, in South India, Nani’s HIT: The Third Case has also kicked off on a strong note, registering an ₹18 crore opening day. Despite receiving mixed reviews, the Telugu thriller is expected to grow through positive word-of-mouth.

With no other major Hindi release today, Raid 2 is well positioned to dominate the weekend box office. The film’s franchise tag, combined with Ajay Devgn’s bankable star power, may just turn it into Bollywood’s first blockbuster of the year.
