Newly surfaced court documents have revealed that actor Rainn Wilson privately supported filmmaker-actor Justin Baldoni during his tense conflict with Blake Lively on the sets of It Ends With Us. According to a Variety report, Baldoni’s legal team submitted a group chat from January 5, 2024, featuring Wilson, Travis Van Winkle, Andy Grammer and producer Jamey Heath.

The chat begins with Wilson checking in—“Any update, Brothers?”—prompting Baldoni to recount a distressing night involving a confrontation with Ryan Reynolds. Baldoni said Reynolds “talked to me like a five-year-old,” accusing him of questionable intentions and even challenging the safety of Baldoni and Heath hosting a podcast. He said both Reynolds and Lively questioned his character and behaviour, leaving him shaken.

Baldoni further wrote that the words “creepy” and “abuse” were used in reference to him, and that he was given scripted apology lines on the spot—something he struggled to deliver as he tried to understand what was unfolding. He added that the only way forward, in his view, was to acknowledge Reynolds and Lively’s emotions and apologise “to take the wrath of an angry husband.”

Rainn Wilson responded with strong support. “Oh my God. I can’t believe it. You were set up and ambushed and personally attacked. I’m stunned,” he wrote. Wilson described Baldoni as being like “a deer in the headlights” and reassured him that delaying the apology was the right call. He closed the exchange with encouragement: “Onwards, brother. Make a great and important and entertaining piece of storytelling. That’s all you can do now.”
