Rajinikanth Calls PM Modi "Fighter", Applauds His Efforts in Restoring Peace in Jammu & Kashmir
May 2, 2025: At the ongoing World Audio Visual and Entertainment (WAVES) Summit 2025, superstar Rajinikanth addressed the recent Pahalgam terrorist attack that claimed the lives of 26 innocent civilians, including a Nepalese national, and left many injured. The actor expressed his support for the government’s efforts in maintaining peace in Jammu and Kashmir and praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership during such trying times.
In his speech at the summit, Rajinikanth said, “After the barbaric, merciless attack that happened at Pahalgam, many people told me that the government would postpone this event because of unnecessary criticism, because the event’s subject is entertainment. But, I was confident that this event will definitely happen, because I have confidence in our Prime Minister, Narendra Modi ji.”
The superstar further emphasized, “He [PM Modi] is a fighter. He will meet any challenge, and prove what we have been saying for the last one decade, that he will face even this situation gracefully and bravely, and bring peace in Kashmir and glory to our country.”
Rajinikanth also expressed his gratitude for being part of the WAVES summit, which is set to position India as a hub for the global media, entertainment, and digital innovation sectors. He extended his hearty congratulations to the central government for making the event a reality.
The WAVES 2025 Summit was officially inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday at the Jio World Convention Centre. In his keynote speech, PM Modi referred to the summit as a “historic moment” for India’s cultural and creative sectors, addressing an audience comprising over 90 countries.
PM Modi remarked, “India, with a billion-plus population, is also a land of a billion-plus stories and over a billion storytellers. Every street, every river, every mountain in India carries a tale. Across more than six lakh villages, each one holds a new story, a fresh perspective. Truly, India has much more to offer.”
The summit, themed “Connecting Creators, Connecting Countries”, aims to showcase India’s potential as a major global player in the entertainment and technology sectors. This first-of-its-kind event will bring together over 10,000 delegates, 1,000 creators, 300 companies, and 350 startups, covering a wide range of sectors including film, OTT, AVGC-XR, AI, and broadcasting.
The four-day summit began on May 1 and will continue until May 4, providing a platform for industry leaders, artists, innovators, and policymakers to collaborate and shape the future of India’s creative industries.
