Rajinikanth's Film 'Coolie' Dominates 'War 2' with Massive Advance Bookings
Ahead of their massive Independence Day weekend clash, Rajinikanth’s film has already earned over ₹50 crore in worldwide advance bookings. Meanwhile, Hrithik Roshan and Jr. NTR’s movie is trailing significantly, with just over ₹2 crore in pre-sales, sparking a major box office rivalry.
August 11, 2025: This weekend, on Independence Day, the action movie War 2, which stars Hrithik Roshan and Jr. NTR, will compete with the superstar Rajinikanth’s Coolie. It will be a big fight at the box office. Early reports from advance bookings reveal that the fight is one-sided, with Coolie clearly in the lead both at home and overseas.
People are very excited about Rajinikanth’s movie. Advance bookings around the world have now topped ₹50 crore. The movie has already sold ₹14 crore worth of tickets in India, with ₹10 crore set aside for its first day. It looks like this performance would break the record for advance bookings in Tamil cinema, which is ₹46 crore and was set by Thalapathy Vijay’s Leo.
Coolie is also setting records all across the world. In North America, the first advance bookings have reached an astonishing $1.7 million (₹14 crore). This is more than what Lokesh Kanagaraj made in his last hit, Leo.
War 2, on the other hand, is quite far behind. The YRF-backed movie has only collected a tiny amount of ₹2.09 crore in advance bookings so far. The movie had a massive budget of ₹400 crore, so it has a long way to go to match up to how well its rival did in the first few days.
Coolie has already made almost ₹250 crore by selling its rights, so it’s clear that the superstar’s movie has a major edge in this high-stakes duel.
