Rajkummar Rao Advocates for Stricter Laws Against Deepfake Videos

In light of the ongoing controversy surrounding deepfake videos targeting celebrities like Rashmika Mandanna, Aamir Khan, and Ranveer Singh, renowned actor Rajkumar Rao has stepped forward to voice his concerns. In an interview with ANI, Rao emphasized the necessity for “strict laws” to combat the misuse of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in generating deceptive content. He stressed the importance of educating the public about AI, noting that only a small percentage of the population is currently aware of its implications. Rao emphasized the need for stringent regulations to prevent the misuse of this technology and safeguard individuals from becoming victims of false narratives.

Transitioning to discuss his upcoming film “Srikanth,” slated for release on May 10, RajKummar Rao shared insights into his portrayal of the titular character’s inspiring journey. Delving into the narrative, Rao expressed admiration for Srikanth Bolla’s remarkable achievements despite visual impairment, highlighting the film’s potential to inspire and uplift audiences. Reflecting on his preparation for the role, Rao detailed his immersive approach, which involved interacting with visually impaired individuals and gaining insights into their perceptions and experiences. Drawing from his experiences, Rao infused authenticity into his performance, capturing the essence of Srikanth’s resilience and determination.

“Srikanth” chronicles the extraordinary life of industrialist Srikanth Bholla, who overcame adversity to establish Bollant Industries. Alongside Rajkummar Rao, the film features acclaimed actors Jyotika and Sharad Kelkar in pivotal roles. Produced by T-Series and Chalk N Cheese Films Production LLP, the movie is helmed by director Tushar Hiranandani, with a screenplay by Jagdeep Sidhu and Sumit Purohit. As Rao continues to advocate for stricter regulations in the digital landscape, his commitment to portraying impactful narratives resonates through his involvement in projects like “Srikanth,” poised to inspire audiences worldwide.
