Rajkummar Rao and Sanya Malhotra Team Up for Netflix’s Toaster: First Teaser Unveiled

A quirky tale of murder, mishaps, and marriage produced by Rajkummar Rao’s wife, Patralekhaa, under their new banner Kampa Films.

February 4, 2025: At Netflix’s 2025 slate announcement event, Rajkummar Rao unveiled his latest project, Toaster, starring Sanya Malhotra in a pivotal role. Directed by Vivek Das Chaudhary, the film marks the first production under Rajkummar Rao and Patralekhaa’s banner, Kampa Films. The story revolves around a miser who becomes obsessively fixated on a toaster amidst chaos involving murder and mayhem.

Netflix also released the first teaser for Toaster, offering fans a glimpse of the quirky storyline. The streaming giant shared on its social media, “Itne mein kitna milega? Sab milega. Rajkummar, Sanya, and a wild ride through mayhem, mishaps, and marriage… all for a toaster. Toaster is coming soon, only on Netflix!”

The film boasts an ensemble cast, including Archana Puran Singh, Upendra Limaye, Farah Khan, Abhishek Banerjee, and Seema Pahwa. It reunites Rao with his co-stars from previous hits such as Sanya Malhotra (HIT: The First Case), Abhishek Banerjee (Stree), and Seema Pahwa (Bareilly Ki Barfi).

During the announcement, Rajkummar shared, “We sent the script to everyone because we truly believed in the project. Everyone trusted the vision and was excited to work together again.”

Patralekhaa, who last appeared in Netflix’s IC 814: The Kandahar Hijack, shared her excitement about producing the film. She revealed how she pitched the idea to Rao over breakfast, saying, “It’s been overwhelming to see a one-pager transform into a full-fledged project. We were fortunate to have such a talented cast.”
