Rajpal Yadav Condemns ‘India’s Got Latent’ Controversy Following Offensive Remarks

February 13, 2025: Actor Rajpal Yadav has expressed his concerns over the recent controversy surrounding the YouTube show ‘India’s Got Latent,’ which has sparked widespread backlash due to remarks made by YouTuber Ranveer Allahbadia. The show has faced severe criticism after Allahbadia’s comments, which were deemed offensive and derogatory, ignited public outrage.

In a video message, Yadav condemned the remarks, calling them “embarrassing” and urging a return to dignity in art. He emphasized that India, with its rich cultural heritage, should uphold respect and responsibility when it comes to entertainment. “Our country is a country of culture. I feel ashamed when I watch such videos,” Yadav remarked, stressing that such behavior reflects poorly on the younger generation’s pursuit of “cheap popularity.”

The actor also made a poignant analogy, likening the situation to a peacock dancing in isolation, only to later regret its actions. “When a peacock is very happy, he dances alone in the jungle with his wings spread out, but when he looks at his feet, he cries,” Yadav said, alluding to the consequences of seeking fleeting fame at the expense of respect and integrity.

Yadav called for more responsibility among artists and influencers, suggesting that counseling and awareness are crucial in preventing art from becoming “a toy.” “Respect yourself, respect your parents, respect every society, respect the whole country, and respect the whole world,” he added, urging influencers to be more mindful of their actions.

The Maharashtra Cyber Cell has filed a case against 30 to 40 people involved in the show, and an investigation is underway. The case includes charges related to obscenity and the protection of women’s dignity. Influencers like Ashish Chanchlani, Jaspreet Singh, Apoorva Makhija, and Allahbadia are among those being questioned.

In response to the backlash, Allahbadia issued a public apology, acknowledging that his comments were inappropriate and apologizing for his lapse in judgment. “My comment wasn’t just inappropriate, it wasn’t even funny. Comedy is not my forte, I am just here to say sorry,” he said, expressing regret for disrespecting family values.

Additionally, the All Indian Cine Workers Association (AICWA) condemned Allahbadia’s remarks, calling for a ban on ‘India’s Got Latent’ and urging actors and filmmakers to dissociate themselves from the show. An FIR was filed by the Guwahati Crime Branch, which continues to investigate the matter.

In the wake of this controversy, the producers of the show have been urged to remove the offensive sections, as the investigation continues, with authorities questioning those involved in the incident.
