Delhi High Court grants relief in ₹9 crore debt case to attend family wedding
February 17, 2026: Bollywood actor Rajpal Yadav was released from Tihar Jail after the Delhi High Court granted him interim relief in a long-running legal dispute over a ₹9 crore debt. Acting on the High Court’s directive, the Karkardooma Court issued a formal release order, staying his sentence temporarily to allow him to attend his niece’s wedding in Shahjahanpur. The interim relief will remain valid until March 18.
As part of the conditions for his release, the court directed Yadav to deposit a demand draft of ₹1.5 crore in favour of the complainant by 3 PM on Monday. After his legal team confirmed that the payment had been processed, the court finalised the bail terms and approved his release from custody.
The actor has also been instructed to surrender his passport to the authorities and has been barred from leaving the country during the interim bail period. The case pertains to a financial dispute that has been under legal consideration for several years.
