Rakhi Sawant and Adil Durrani End Legal War as Bombay HC Quashes FIRs

The High Court noted the disputes arose from a matrimonial relationship and permitted the settlement; both must now abide by an undertaking not to speak about the issue publicly.

October 16, 2025: In a significant development, the Bombay High Court on Wednesday quashed two cross-complaints lodged by actor Rakhi Sawant and her former husband, Adil Durrani, after noting that the estranged couple had settled their matrimonial disputes amicably.

A bench of Justices Revati Mohite Dere and Sandesh Patil passed the order, observing that the legal conflict, which had drawn major public attention, originated from a marital relationship.

“No Need to Keep FIRs Pending”

Pronouncing the decision, the Court stated, “In view of the amicable settlement, there is no need to keep the FIRs pending. The FIRs and the subsequent charge sheets are quashed.”

Both Sawant and Durrani were present in court during the proceedings and confirmed to the bench that they had no objection to the complaints being set aside.

The judges further clarified the nature of the dispute, stating: “The dispute is a matrimonial dispute that has been amicably settled by the parties. Considering the settlement, the petitions are allowed and the cases are quashed.”

Background of the Complaints

The court quashed two separate First Information Reports (FIRs) filed in February 2023, following the couple’s public separation after their marriage under Islamic laws in 2022.

  • Rakhi Sawant’s FIR: Filed at the Oshiwara police station, it accused Durrani of serious charges including criminal intimidation, harassment, and unnatural sex.
  • Adil Durrani’s FIR: Lodged with the Amboli police station, it alleged that Sawant had defamed him by circulating certain obscene videos of him among his friends.

Court Mandates Silence on the Issue

The Bombay High Court stressed that the final quashing of the cases is conditional on the undertakings given by the former couple. The bench added, “Needless to say that both the parties are to abide by the undertaking given by them.” This mandate reportedly includes a condition that neither Sawant nor Durrani will speak about the legal battle publicly or make any further allegations against the other.
