Directed by debutant Senthil Nallasamy, this period action drama promises an emotionally charged journey of a mother fighting against all odds to protect her daughter. The film will release across multiple languages, including Hindi, Malayalam, Telugu, and Kannada, marking yet another pan-India venture for Nayanthara.

The announcement of Rakkayie comes as Nayanthara faces controversy surrounding her Netflix documentary, Nayanthara: Beyond the Fairytale. The actress revealed that actor-producer Dhanush had denied permission to use behind-the-scenes footage from their 2015 film Naanum Rowdy Dhaan in the documentary, leading to legal action. Despite the dispute, the documentary highlights Nayanthara’s personal journey, her relationship with her husband Vignesh Shivan, and her experiences in the film industry. It also features appearances from stars like Radhika Sarathkumar, Rana Daggubati, Taapsee Pannu, and Nagarjuna.
