Ram Kapoor And Mona Singh Reunite For ‘Mistry’ — Indian Adaptation Of Hit US Series Monk
May 27, 2025: Actors Ram Kapoor and Mona Singh are all set to bring a fresh twist to crime-solving with their upcoming series ‘Mistry’, the official Indian adaptation of the iconic American show Monk. The series will stream on JioHotstar from June 27.
Ram Kapoor stars as Armaan Mistry, a brilliant but eccentric private detective with obsessive-compulsive disorder — a desi reimagining of Adrian Monk, the beloved character originally portrayed by Tony Shalhoub.
Mona Singh plays ACP Sehmat Siddiqui, a sharp and grounded cop who partners with Mistry to crack unconventional cases. The cast also includes Shikha Talsania (Wake Up Sid) and Kshitish Date (Mulshi Pattern), adding depth and humor to the ensemble.
Directed by Rishab Seth, the series marks the first South Asian adaptation of Monk, following a deal between Banijay Asia and NBCUniversal Formats.
“Mistry was such a unique and fulfilling experience,” said Seth. “Ram has done absolute justice to our vision of Armaan Mistry, and the rest of the cast has added tremendous value to the overall story.”
The original Monk series aired on USA Network from 2002 to 2009 and gained critical acclaim for its blend of humor, mystery, and emotional depth. It even led to a reunion film, Mr. Monk’s Last Case, released on Peacock in 2023.
The Indian version promises a culturally rich adaptation with the same balance of quirky humor and heartfelt storytelling that made the original a classic.
