Rana Daggubati Calls Akshay Kumar’s ‘Kesari 2’ a Powerful and Important Film Ahead of Release
April 12, 2025: Actor Rana Daggubati has given a glowing review of the upcoming Akshay Kumar-starrer Kesari 2: The Untold Story of Jallianwala Bagh, calling it a “must-watch” film with deep emotional resonance and historical importance. Daggubati, who has acquired the Telugu rights for the film, shared his thoughts after watching a special preview ahead of its release.
Taking to Instagram, Rana wrote:
“Just watched an incredible historical courtroom drama — Kesari Chapter 2: The Untold Story of Jallianwala Bagh. A powerful, important film that stands tall and stays deep with the Indian in you. This is storytelling that deserves to be seen across languages. We @SureshProductions will do everything we can to bring this cinematic gem to Telugu audiences in the best way in cinemas. A must-watch. And great performances by @akshaykumar @actormaddy @ananyapanday #KesariChapter2.”
The second installment in the Kesari franchise, Kesari Chapter 2 shifts focus to the harrowing Jallianwala Bagh massacre and the landmark legal battle that followed. Akshay Kumar takes on the role of the legendary lawyer and nationalist C Sankaran Nair, who was instrumental in holding the British accountable for the massacre in Amritsar.
The film also stars R. Madhavan and Ananya Panday in key roles. While the first Kesari film in 2019 depicted the heroic Battle of Saragarhi, Kesari 2 aims to shed light on another pivotal yet lesser-known chapter in India’s fight for freedom.
Directed by Anurag Singh, the film is set to release in theatres on April 18, 2025, and promises to be a stirring historical courtroom drama that resonates with audiences across the country.
