Ranbir Kapoor on Reuniting with Sanjay Leela Bhansali for Love & War: Deets Inside

November 25, 2025: Ranbir Kapoor is all set to collaborate with renowned filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali for the highly anticipated epic, Love & War. The film, featuring an ensemble cast of Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, and Vicky Kaushal, is already creating a buzz in the industry. At the ongoing 55th International Film Festival of India (IFFI) in Goa, Ranbir shared his excitement about reuniting with the director who launched his acting career.

Ranbir Kapoor’s Tribute to Sanjay Leela Bhansali

During an on-stage interaction at IFFI, Ranbir reflected on his long-standing relationship with Bhansali, calling him his “godfather”. He said, “Everything I know about films, everything I know about acting, it is something I learnt from him.”

Ranbir first collaborated with Bhansali as an assistant director on Black (2005) before making his acting debut in the director’s Saawariya (2007). Describing Bhansali’s passion for filmmaking, Ranbir added, “He hasn’t changed at all. He is extremely hard-working. All he thinks about is his movies. He just wants to speak about the character, he wants you to create, do something different.”

Love & War was officially announced in January 2024 with a release date set for Christmas 2025. The Instagram announcement featured the signatures of its lead stars—Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, and Vicky Kaushal—alongside the tagline, “Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Epic Saga Love & War. See You At The Movies Christmas 2025.”

The film marks Bhansali’s second collaboration with Alia Bhatt, following the critically acclaimed Gangubai Kathiawadi (2022), for which she won the National Award for Best Actress.

Ranbir’s Upcoming Projects

Ranbir Kapoor was last seen in Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s Animal, a film that garnered significant attention. A sequel to Animal is already in development. Additionally, Ranbir is currently filming for Nitesh Tiwari’s ambitious project Ramayana, where he stars alongside Sai Pallavi and Yash.
