Actor Ranbir Kapoor has finally confessed that he does have an Instagram account — but not the kind fans might expect. Speaking at the launch of DAMAC Islands 2 in Dubai on Wednesday, alongside his wife Alia Bhatt, Ranbir revealed that he operates a “finsta” (fake Instagram) account purely for following inspirational content creators — and that it has zero followers.

Ranbir on why he stays off social media

When asked if he has an Instagram account, Ranbir said,

“I’m not officially on Instagram. I have a finsta account. There are such amazing people in the world who do amazing, inspirational stuff. You do want to follow them, but because I’m an actor, I didn’t want to officially be on Instagram.”

He explained that being on social media would come with expectations.

“Then I have a responsibility to really show myself off to the world. I already have a medium — acting and movies — and that’s enough for me to express myself,” he added.

Ranbir admitted that he often gives different answers to the same question about his absence from social media:

“I’ve been asked this so many times. I always come up with different answers — which may not even be the truth — because otherwise, I’ll seem boring. It’s been 10 years of the same question!”

Ranbir and Alia talk about his secret Reels

The actor also revealed that he made an Instagram Reel with his daughter Raha — but since his finsta account has no followers, it remains private. Alia Bhatt chimed in, saying,

“He wouldn’t even let me follow him!”

Ranbir explained his reasoning:

“If she follows me, then the world will find out.”

Alia teased him further, adding,

“He says, ‘If you follow me, everyone will follow me.’ I’m peeking into his home — he’s got all of two Reels on his finsta account that only he and two people will see.”

The couple’s appearance in Dubai

At the DAMAC event, Ranbir looked dapper in a blue suit with a white shirt, while Alia dazzled in a golden outfit. A video from the event showed the couple dancing together to “Badtameez Dil” from Ranbir’s hit film Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani (2013).

Their family and upcoming films

Ranbir and Alia, who dated for several years, tied the knot in April 2022. They welcomed their daughter Raha in November 2022 and introduced her to the public on Christmas 2023.

On the work front, Alia will next be seen in Shiv Rawail’s action thriller Alpha alongside Sharvari Wagh, set in the YRF Spy Universe. She also stars with Ranbir and Vicky Kaushal in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Love & War.

Ranbir, meanwhile, is gearing up for Nitesh Tiwari’s Ramayana with Sai Pallavi and Yash.
