September 22, 2025: In a new development surrounding Aryan Khan’s directorial debut, The Ba*ds of Bollywood, the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) has called for legal action against actor Ranbir Kapoor and the show’s producers over a controversial vaping scene. The NHRC has urged the Mumbai Police to register an FIR, citing a violation of the Prohibition of Electric Cigarettes Act, 2019.

The complaint, filed by activist Vinay Joshi, alleges that a scene featuring Ranbir Kapoor using an e-cigarette was shown without any on-screen warning or disclaimer. According to the complaint, the depiction could “mislead or negatively influence young viewers” and promote the use of a substance that is banned in India.

The NHRC has officially written to the Mumbai Police Commissioner, asking for an investigation and the registration of a case against Ranbir Kapoor, the show’s producers, and the streaming platform, Netflix.
