‘Ranneeti: Balakot & Beyond’: Lara Dutta’s candid take on propaganda and patriotism

Former Miss Universe and acclaimed Bollywood actress Lara Dutta is set to star in the new web series ‘Ranneeti: Balakot & Beyond’, exploring the complex world of modern warfare and geopolitics. Directed by Santosh Singh, the series aims to uncover the strategies behind a significant defense operation, blending traditional and contemporary combat techniques.

Coming from a military family, with her father and sister both serving in the Air Force, Lara brings a personal connection and a deep sense of national pride to her role. In an exclusive interview with ANI, she discussed the personal resonance the series holds for her, especially given her family’s insights during the Balakot air strike.

“There’s always a special feeling when you’re able to bring stories from your homeland to life,” Lara said, addressing concerns about the portrayal of patriotic narratives. “We admire and accept complex military narratives from Hollywood without question, so why should our own stories be any different?”

Lara is grateful for the opportunity to delve into stories that highlight India’s strategic prowess on the global stage. ‘Ranneeti: Balakot & Beyond’, produced by Sunjoy Waddhwa and Comall Sunjay W of Sphereorigins Multivision Private Limited, features an impressive cast including Ashutosh Rana and Ashish Vidyarthi. The series is set to premiere on April 25 on JioCinema.

In addition to ‘Ranneeti: Balakot & Beyond’, Lara Dutta is involved in several other upcoming projects including ‘Welcome To The Jungle’, ‘Suryast’, and ‘Ramayana’, promising a busy and exciting phase in her career.
