Podcaster Ranveer Allahbadia is facing a fresh wave of online trolling after a clip of him asking a Chinese singer about Taylor Swift’s fame went viral. Social media users have called his question “ignorant,” pointing out that the pop star is globally famous.

September 6, 2025: BeerBiceps, also known as Ranveer Allahbadia, is a podcaster and social media influencer who is once again in the heart of a social media tempest.

A video of an old interview with Chinese artist Mary Lee has gone viral. In it, Allahbadia wonders, “Is Taylor Swift popular in China?”

Lee answered the question positively, but many people on the internet made fun of it, saying that Taylor Swift is a global phenomenon and that the question was “weird” and “ignorant.” The viral video has brought back a lot of trolling for the podcaster, who just came back from a prior, more severe scandal.

A History of Disputes

A few months ago, Allahbadia was in a lot of trouble for asking a “vulgar” question on a show called India’s Got Latent. That event led to several FIRs, a call from the Mumbai Police, and the Supreme Court branding his comments “vulgar.” The court gave him temporary protection from arrest, but it also told him to give up his passport and not leave the country.

After the India’s Got Latent scandal, Allahbadia stopped making content for a while. In the end, he came back and promised to provide more “responsible” stuff. The old clip coming back and the trolling that followed have pushed his prior activities back into the forefront, sparking a new discussion about the duty of public figures and content makers.
