Ranveer Singh BREAKS Silence On Dhurandhar’s Historic ₹1247 Crore Global Success

Ranveer Singh pays tribute to his “Alma Mater” Yash Raj Films as the industry celebrates the film’s unprecedented run; sequel clashing with Yash’s ‘Toxic’ confirmed for March 2026.

January 7, 2026: The box office reign of Dhurandhar shows no signs of slowing down. As of Wednesday, January 7, 2026, the Ranveer Singh-starrer has officially entered the history books, crossing the monumental ₹1,247 crore mark at the global box office.

Even in its fifth week, the film continues to defy gravity, recording an India nett collection of ₹4.75 crore on Day 33, pushing its total domestic earnings to a staggering ₹781.75 crore. With this, the film has overtaken the lifetime collections of blockbusters like RRR and Jawan in the North American market, becoming only the second Indian film after Baahubali 2 to gross over $20 million in the US and Canada.

Ranveer Singh’s Emotional Response to YRF

Despite his usual high-energy persona, Ranveer Singh had remained uncharacteristically quiet during the film’s meteoric rise. That changed on Tuesday when Yash Raj Films (YRF)—the studio where Ranveer made his debut in 2010—posted a lengthy tribute calling Dhurandhar a “milestone moment in Indian cinema.”

Ranveer replied: “My beloved Alma Mater, only ever wanted to make you proud.”

The interaction was a full-circle moment for the actor, who debuted with YRF’s Band Baaja Baaraat. YRF’s praise for director Aditya Dhar and Jio Studios was particularly notable, as the studio credited Dhar’s “fearless storytelling” for setting a new benchmark that even surpassed the records of YRF’s own “Spy Universe” films like Pathaan and Tiger 3.

The “Single Language” Record

Trade analysts are highlighting a unique feat: Dhurandhar is now the highest-grossing Indian film of all time in a single language (Hindi).

  • Unlike Dangal (which relied on China’s Mandarin dub) or Baahubali and RRR (which combined multiple regional languages), Dhurandhar’s ₹1,200+ crore haul has come almost exclusively from its original Hindi version and international subtitled releases.
  • The film has achieved this despite being banned in several Gulf countries due to its sensitive plot involving counter-terror operations in Karachi’s Lyari district.

Coming Soon: ‘Dhurandhar 2 – Revenge’

The adrenaline isn’t stopping here. The makers have confirmed that the saga of Jaskirat Singh Rangi (Ranveer’s character) will continue in a sequel titled Dhurandhar 2 – Revenge.

  • Release Date: March 19, 2026 (Eid Weekend)
  • The Big Clash: The sequel is set for a high-stakes box office battle with Yash’s highly anticipated Pan-India film Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-Ups.
  • Plot Hint: The sequel is expected to follow Hamza as he targets “Bade Sahab,” the mastermind behind the terror networks introduced in Part 1.
