Filmmaker Anurag Kashyap has revealed an intense behind-the-scenes anecdote about Ranveer Singh, highlighting the actor’s commitment to method acting during the filming of Lootera. According to Kashyap, Ranveer secretly injured himself in an attempt to realistically portray the pain of being shot in a crucial scene.
Recalling the incident, Kashyap said the actor used a clip on his stomach to simulate the sensation of a gunshot wound, without informing anyone on set. The experiment went too far, leaving Ranveer unable to move and eventually requiring hospitalisation. The filmmaker noted that no one was aware of the situation until the actor’s condition worsened.

Kashyap contrasted this dedication with the film’s commercial outcome, stating that while Lootera did not achieve the box office success of recent hits like Dhurandhar 2: The Revenge, Ranveer’s commitment to his craft has remained unwavering.
The discussion around the actor’s intense preparation comes amid stories from Dhurandhar 2, where co-stars, including Arjun Rampal, reportedly pushed physical limits during action sequences. The film, directed by Aditya Dhar, has emerged as a massive global success.
Within just 20 days of its release, Dhurandhar 2: The Revenge has reportedly crossed ₹1,600 crore at the worldwide box office, placing it among the top-grossing films of 2026 globally. The film’s performance is particularly notable as it competes with major international releases, marking a significant milestone for Indian cinema.
With strong momentum continuing, the film is now eyeing the ₹1,700 crore mark, potentially setting a new benchmark as one of the highest-grossing Indian films without relying on the Chinese market.
