May 26, 2025 : The long-standing rumours of a feud between Raveena Tandon and Karisma Kapoor during the filming of ‘Andaz Apna Apna’ and ‘Aatish’ have resurfaced, but this time, Raveena herself is setting the record straight.
In a recent vlog with choreographer-director Farah Khan on her YouTube channel, Raveena addressed the infamous “catfight” stories, calling them nothing more than “classroom politics.”
“We were just kids at that time,” Raveena said, laughing off the speculation that has persisted for decades.
Raveena humorously confronted Farah for frequently bringing up the alleged feud in public conversations, saying:
“You went everywhere and said that fights were happening on set. When did we fight? What did I do? I was sitting with dancers who were my friends, and they were sharing non-veg jokes.”
Farah had previously narrated the incident on Koffee With Karan in 2007, where she described a childish altercation on the sets of Aatish, claiming the actresses were hitting each other with their wigs and stamping feet in a moment of teen angst.
“They were wearing these wigs with plaits and beads in them. One was hitting, the other was stamping her foot with her heel. It was quite childish. I’m sure they’ll laugh about it now,” Farah had said then.
Adding to the nostalgic drama, Aamir Khan, who co-starred with both actresses in Andaz Apna Apna, once mentioned the difficulties faced during the shoot due to their timings.
“I was the only actor who used to come on time. Karisma aati thi toh Raveena chali jaati thi. Bahut mushkil se woh film bani thi,” Aamir told India Today.

In a Lehren Retro interview, Raveena also hinted at having faced backdoor politics in Bollywood, specifically pointing out how she lost films like Saajan Chale Sasural and Vijaypath, roles that eventually went to Karisma Kapoor.
“I’ve always believed in healthy competition. But I’m not a cutthroat person. Nobody can say Raveena got me removed from a project… but others have done politics against me.”
Despite the professional overlaps and occasional casting shifts, Raveena maintains that she has never indulged in industry groupism or power play.

Despite their alleged rivalry, Raveena and Karisma worked together in two notable 1990s films — Andaz Apna Apna and Aatish — both of which have since achieved cult status in Bollywood’s comedy and action genres.
