Ravi Kishan Backs TV Actors
Actor cites Smriti Irani’s rise, pushes for pension scheme
January 18, 2026: Actor and MP Ravi Kishan, who will be seen in a key role in the upcoming film Bhabhiji Ghar Par Hain, addressed concerns about television actors not receiving due recognition during the film’s trailer launch. Responding to a question on why TV actors often feel overlooked compared to other industries, Ravi Kishan rejected the notion and pointed to several examples of television stars achieving prominence in politics and cinema.
Citing Union Minister Smriti Irani, Ravi Kishan said her journey reflects the respect television actors can earn. He noted that Irani was a major TV star before entering politics and later becoming a senior cabinet minister. He further added that many television actors have successfully transitioned to films, won National Awards, and even gone on to become MPs and MLAs, proving that the medium does not limit opportunities or recognition.
Ravi Kishan also revealed that he has taken concrete steps to support struggling actors from the television and film industries. He said a private member’s bill has been introduced in Parliament in his name, proposing pension-like support, housing, and land for financially unstable actors, especially character artists with small roles. According to him, the bill has been presented and will be debated, reflecting his effort to secure dignity and financial security for artists who often face hardship later in life.
